Why hire a sailing boat with a racing pedigree?

All our three traditional sailing yachts that we have available for hire have a racing pedigree, this has been a bench mark for Olivers Sailing Holidays because a boat that sails well, is better for the experienced sailor and the novice.

For the more technically minded, all our yachts have the following features.

  1. Fin keel - reducing leeway and increasing manoeuvrability

  2. Larger rudder - increasing both manoeuvrability and controllability

  3. Larger sail area - increasing speed in light winds

  4. Sails that are quickly is and easily reefed

  5. Taller mast - improving performance in tree affected areas


These culminate in a yacht that sails well in light winds and areas that are affected by wind shadows, makes less leeway enabling good upwind performance, is extremely manoeuvrable with a small turning circle and easier to control in stronger winds.
